This lively draughtsmanship is clearly Venetian, its author greatly influenced by the pen sketches of Paolo Veronese. It is comparable to another drawing of similar subject and technique recently on the art market which was attributed to Alvise by Terence Mullaly.1 Another drawing, though a composition with added brush and wash, inscribed Alvise dal/ Friso and confirmed as such by Mullaly, also bears a likeness.2
Alvise was Veronese's nephew and collaborator. He worked for a long time in Veronese's workshop and like his master, his drawing styles and technique appear to be pretty varied.3
